Assistants
Use Faring with Claude or ChatGPT.
Connect the assistant you already use, and ask it about your trips or have it add to them. It works with your own role on each trip and nothing more. It works in Claude and in ChatGPT.
What the connector does In the beta
Once connected, you can ask Claude things like “What is on Thursday?”, “Where does everyone sleep tonight?” or “Which bookings are still unpaid?”. It can:
- Read the trip: days, plan items, bookings, people and their dates on the trip, places, documents, links, lists, to-dos, votes and recent changes, and search across your trips.
- Add bookings: paste a confirmation and ask for it to go on the trip, with its plan item and legs.
- Add ideas and plan items: an activity on a day, a place, a link.
- Keep lists and to-dos current, and cast your own vote.
- Plan several days at once. It shows a preview of every step first, and nothing is written until you say yes.
- Tidy up: review Faring’s suggestions and merge duplicate places, if your role allows it.
Faring asks the assistant to check with you before it cancels or removes anything. Every change appears in Recent changes under your name, labelled with the assistant it came from, and most can be undone for 30 days.
It cannot invite or remove people, change roles, archive or delete a trip, clear history, or touch photos. With a View only connection it can only read.
Connect Claude In the beta
You add Faring once, in your Claude account. If your Claude plan allows custom connectors:

- Back in Claude, Faring is listed with its tools. Start a chat and ask about a trip.
The consent page also has an option to let the assistant read the text of your trip documents. It is off unless you tick it. To change a choice, disconnect and connect again.
Claude Desktop and the Claude mobile app. Once you add the connector, it appears everywhere you sign in to Claude: on the web, in Claude Desktop and on your phone.
Claude Desktop and Claude Code can also use a connection key you make in the Faring app under Settings › Assistants.

https://api.faringapp.com/mcp. - Choose Connect. Faring’s own sign-in page opens. Sign in with your Faring account; you never type your password into ChatGPT.

You need a Faring account
Faring is open by invitation for now. An account comes from a trip invitation, or from the waitlist. The connector works with any trip your account is on.
Privacy, in plain words
- The assistant sees only the trips you can see, with your role on each. A Viewer’s assistant reads and cannot change anything.
- Booking details follow your role. If the trip hides confirmation codes, money and cancel-by times from Viewers, the assistant sees that they are hidden and does not see them.
- Your assistant’s provider sees what you ask it to read. What Anthropic or OpenAI does with a chat is covered by their settings and policies. Faring sends nothing to an assistant provider on its own.
- The connection lasts up to 90 days. Then you connect again.
- Disconnect any time in the Faring app, under Settings › Assistants. It stops on the assistant’s next request. Removing Faring inside Claude or ChatGPT does not end the connection, so disconnect it here too.
The details of what Faring stores for a connection are in the privacy policy. The short version is on the privacy page. Questions go to support.
