Your account

Delete your account.

You can delete your Faring account from inside the app, without emailing anyone. Here is what happens.

Before you start: export your data

  1. Open Faring and tap your initials, then Settings.
  2. Under Account, tap Export my data.
  3. Sign in again when asked. Faring builds a ZIP on the server (JSON plus your own photo originals, in parts of at most 2 GB) and hands it to the share sheet so you can save it where you like.

Deleting

  1. In Settings, under Account, tap Delete account.
  2. Sign in again. This is required so nobody can delete your account from an unlocked phone.
  3. If you organize any shared trips, choose what happens to each: hand it to a Co-organizer (the default when there is one) or another member you pick; archive it and delete it in 30 days, with a notice to members; or delete it now for everyone.
  4. Confirm. Your sessions, assistant connection keys and pending invitations end immediately. You get a receipt code.

The 7-day grace period

Deletion is scheduled 7 days after your request. If you change your mind, sign in during those days: you will see only Cancel deletion and Export my data. Cancelling restores your account but not the sessions, keys or invitations that were ended. Anyone holding the receipt code can check whether the deletion is scheduled or completed, without an account.

What is deleted

  • Your sign-in identity and account at our sign-in provider, every session and assistant key.
  • Your private lists, your own photos, trips where you were the only member, and any exports.
  • Your email, name and every other personal field on your account record.

What stays

  • Shared trips and the items you added to them, which belong to the trip’s remaining members. They show you as “a former member”.
  • The record that an account existed, with no personal fields, so history stays consistent.
